A long line stretched from the food vendors at Adams Township Community Park, where neighbors stood shoulder to shoulder beneath the late-summer sun. While the aroma of grilled food and the sounds of a DJ filled the air, the crowd had gathered for more than just good eats and classic cars. They came together to support a local first grader, Emily Moore, who is bravely battling a brain tumor.
The fundraiser was part of the township’s eighth annual car cruise, which drew close to 200 classic and custom vehicles to the park. Along with the car showcase, the event featured raffle baskets, food vendors, and a 50/50 drawing. All proceeds from the day will go directly to the Moore family.
“We’re happy to be able to provide that donation to the family and hopefully it will help with any needs they have coming up,” said Brian Perry, Adams Township Parks and Recreation Director, who organized the event. He noted that more than 40 raffle baskets were collected this year, the largest in the event’s history, with donations coming not only from local businesses but also from friends and neighbors.
Vendors including Cone Ice, Mars Farmhouse, and Rogers Cuisine supported the fundraiser, along with DJ Bretman, who kept the energy high throughout the day.
For Adams Township Supervisor Dave Goodworth, the car cruise is more than just a summer tradition—it’s a chance for the community to come together for a good cause. “Each year we try to find a local family or a local situation that could use some financial support,” he said. “It’s what makes this event special.”
Goodworth, who also teaches at Mars Area School District, said many of the raffle baskets this year came from teachers eager to help one of their own students.
With the sun shining, engines revving, and neighbors gathered around rows of gleaming cars, the day was a reminder of the power of community. As Perry put it, “The support we see each year continues to amaze us. People want to be part of something that makes a difference.”
