Inside the Seven Fields office of Dunn & Dimond Insurance, the photograph only tells part of the story.
One image features Bill Dimond’s stepfather, brother and sister — family members who helped build the agency from the ground up decades ago. Today, Bill’s sons, Will and Drew, are helping lead the next generation of the family business.
For Bill Dimond, insurance was never simply about policies or premiums.
“It’s a relationship,” Dimond said during a recent interview. “When we take on a client, it’s not about selling something today and losing it tomorrow. We’re here for the long haul.”
That philosophy has helped transform what began as a small family operation into a growing regional agency with offices serving Butler, Beaver and Lawrence counties.
The business traces its roots back to 1981 when Dimond’s stepfather, Ron, opened the agency after working as an adjuster for Erie Insurance. Bill joined the business in 1991 shortly after graduating from college.

“At the beginning, it was him, myself and a part-time lady,” Dimond recalled. “Now we have about 20 employees.”
Today, Dunn & Dimond operates in an insurance industry dramatically different from the one Bill entered more than three decades ago.
“When we started, we were manually rating applications in books and doing paperwork in triplicate with carbon copies,” Dimond said. “Now the technology and AI involved in risk assessment is incredible.”
But despite the technological changes, Dimond believes relationships still matter most.
“That’s what human nature is — relationships,” he said. “We’re not going to outspend the commercials you see on TV. Where we win is with service and being there for our clients when they need us.”
Ronald Dunn Jr., who joined the family business in 2007, said the agency still operates with the mindset of a small-town business despite its growth across the region.
“Anyone can buy insurance through anybody,” Dunn said. “What separates us is the personal service and relationships.”
That mindset has become central to the culture inside the agency.
“We make it a point to answer the phone in a caring and meaningful way,” Dimond said. “A lot of times when someone calls with a claim, it may be the worst day they’ve had in a long time. We understand that.”
The agency’s emphasis on customer care has also shaped how the company hires and trains employees.
“We’ve worked hard to build a culture of care,” Dimond said. “You can teach insurance, but you need people who genuinely care about others.”
That culture is something Bill’s sons say they experienced growing up long before they entered the business themselves.
“I always saw how hard my dad worked, but he still made time for family,” said Will Dimond, who has worked at the agency for more than eight years. “He motivated people by lifting them up instead of talking down to them.”
Will said what separates Dunn & Dimond from larger agencies is what happens after a policy is written.
“A lot of places are focused on getting the policy done, and then that’s it,” he said. “For us, the service afterward is everything.”
His younger brother Drew echoed that sentiment.
“I think everyone here would do anything for our clients,” Drew said. “We really do go the extra mile.”
Drew joined the agency in 2023 after originally considering a career in accounting. Watching his father balance work, family and coaching youth sports helped influence his decision to enter the family business.
“He was able to provide for us while still being there,” Drew said. “That flexibility and family aspect meant a lot to me.”
Longtime employee Chris Richards, who has worked with the agency for more than a decade, said the family atmosphere extends beyond the Dimond family itself.
“Everyone here gets along,” Richards said. “We hang out outside the office. It’s a friendly group, but we also work hard.”
Richards described Bill Dimond as a leader who “leads by example.”
“The things he asks us to do, he’s already done himself,” Richards said. “He built this from the ground up.”
For Bill, opening the Seven Fields office carried special meaning because of the family’s deep roots in Cranberry Township.
“It felt like coming home,” he said. “I’ve watched this area grow from a small town into what it is today, and I wanted to be part of that growth.”
That commitment to the community extends well beyond insurance.
Dimond has been involved with the Cranberry Sunrise Rotary, the Southern Butler County Business Association, the YMCA and several local boards over the years.“You’ve got to give back,” he said. “If you’re not involved in the community, then why are you doing it?”
Now, as the next generation joins the agency, Dimond says the future feels brighter than ever.
“Nothing has been better than opening this office in our hometown and having my boys join the agency,” he said. “They’re all in.”
And while the insurance industry continues to evolve, Dimond says the agency’s mission remains unchanged.
“We build clients one relationship at a time,” he said.
