Drivers traveling Franklin Road and Peters Road in Cranberry Township should expect daytime and evening delays beginning Monday, Feb. 16, as lane restrictions take effect for a long-term safety improvement project. Traffic on Route 228 should not be impacted.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, intermittent single-lane closures with flagging will take place between Route 228 and Peters Road on Franklin Road (Route 3021). Restrictions are scheduled weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with work continuing through Aug. 31 during this phase.

The project is part of a larger, four-year corridor upgrade in Cranberry Township designed to improve roadway safety. Planned improvements include shoulder widening, edge-line rumble strips, and sight-distance enhancements along the corridor.
Construction is being handled by Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., with the overall project valued at $19.1 million and an anticipated completion date in early November 2027.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use alternate routes when possible during posted work hours.
