The Mars community is coming together this weekend to support the family of Jason Richard Sarver, a devoted father of three and longtime public servant who passed away Friday, Feb. 13, surrounded by his loved ones.
Sarver, 51, of Harmony, served as a councilman in Harmony Borough and worked as a code enforcement and zoning officer for Zelienople Borough. Friends describe him as deeply committed to his community — but first and foremost, as a loving dad who treasured time with his daughters, Madison, Abigail and Cassidy.
In his free time, Sarver enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hiking at McConnells Mill State Park with his girls and his dog, Otis. Those close to him say family always came first.
Now, friends are stepping up to help Sarver’s family during an incredibly difficult time.
A community fundraiser will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Mars VFW. Proceeds will go directly to supporting Sarver’s daughters.
The event was organized by family friend Kelly Cervone, who said she wanted to create a way for neighbors to come together and help ease the burden on Jason’s children.
“He gave so much to his community,” Cervone said. “This is our chance to give something back to his family.”
The fundraiser will also feature live music from Scott and Cecilia, owners of Jimmy’s Strip District Grille, who will be performing, followed by a new band, Crimson. Cecilia serves as lead vocalist. The couple volunteered their time to help make the event special for the family.
Sarver is survived by his three daughters; his father, Warren Sarver (Lola O’Donnell); his sister, Amanda Truver (Nate); nieces Sydney and Kaylin; the mother of his children, Christy Sarver; and his dogs, Otis and Chloe.
A celebration of life service was held at Grace Church of Harmony, with arrangements entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home. He was laid to rest privately at Evans City Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Jason’s honor may also be made to the American Cancer Society.
Community members are encouraged to attend Saturday’s fundraiser, share the event with friends, and continue lifting Sarver’s family in their thoughts and prayers.
