On the outside, it looked like another quiet, cold Friday night in December along Grand Avenue.

Through the window of FYIE Boutiques, owner Josette Gastonguay carefully primped a mannequin for the Christmas season, wrapping up another long day before closing her shop. Across the street, an entirely different energy was beginning to build.

At Mars Pizza, Mike Porreca’s team worked at full throttle, boxes flying out the door. And just on the other side of the wall, a Friday-night transformation was underway. The smell of pizza drifted into Dina Russo’s Masterpiece Creations Art Gallery as the Pyramid Incident set up for the night.

Lead singer Russ “Sir Sosimo” Cersosimo bounced around the room assisting with sound setup — part engineer, part kid on a sugar rush — while Russo welcomed guests young and old. Seats filled quickly, coats came off, and the chill on people’s faces melted as the first chords cut through the room.

The amplifiers came alive as Cersosimo tore into Simple Man — a special request from his biggest fan in the room: his mother. As the final notes faded, he stepped off the stage and embraced her, tears visible from the front row.

From there, the band cruised smoother than an F-150 rolling down Grand Avenue, ripping through classic rock favorites — Black Magic Woman, Fire, I’m Your Captain, Sweet Emotion, and For What It’s Worth — filling the gallery with music, movement, and shared memory.

And all of it — every note, every slice, every smile — happened on what appeared to be just another quiet Friday night in Mars.

As we stepped back out into the cold, one Pink Floyd lyric came to mind: Wish You Were Here.

Good news — you won’t have to wish long.

The Pyramid Incident returns to Mars on Friday, January 9, bringing their mix of classic rock, musicianship, and community energy back to Masterpiece Creations Art Gallery.
